Open air service takes place outside closed village Kirk
RESIDENTS of a village where the Church of Scotland has closed the kirk gathered for an open-air service outside the building on Remembrance Day.
The 40-minute act of worship at Ecclefechan was led by a local newsagent, who is also a trained Methodist Lay Preacher.
Organisers, including the village community council, expressed delight at the large turnout for the service, which included the wreath-laying ceremony and two minutes silence at the near-by war memorial.
The service was one of many in towns and villages across the region on Remembrance Day.
